KRISPR, the thought-provoking debut novel by Jennifer Handler, has received the Literary Titan Book Award, recognizing its compelling blend of science, suspense, romance, and timely ethical questions surrounding CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing.

At the center of KRISPR is Aliya McKenna, a brilliant and determined young woman whose life moves from modeling and romance in New York to the cutting edge of genetics and neuroscience. When she is invited to collaborate with a world-renowned scientist, Aliya believes she is stepping into an extraordinary opportunity. Her work has the potential to help cure devastating human diseases, including Alzheimer's. But as the promise of her discovery grows, so does the danger. In the wrong hands, her revolutionary technology could be used for devastating abuse.

Faced with impossible choices, Aliya must decide how far she is willing to go to protect the people she loves and prevent her work from being corrupted by greed, vanity, and power. The novel asks a question that feels increasingly urgent in the modern age of biotechnology: "just because we can alter life, does that mean we should?"

Literary Titan praised KRISPR as "a heartfelt, high-concept novel that is entertaining and thought-provoking," highlighting the way Handler brings science to life through story. The review noted that the book does not use science as "decorative wallpaper," but instead treats genetics, neuroscience, and bioethics with real curiosity and emotional depth. The novel's moving Alzheimer's storyline, high-stakes moral conflict, and relationship-rich suspense make it a strong fit for readers of science thrillers, medical dramas, romantic suspense, and bioethics fiction.

Handler's own scientific background gives KRISPR unusual authenticity. With a PhD in Genetics, postdoctoral work in neuroscience, and professional research experience in Alzheimer's disease, she brings both expertise and personal insight to the story. Inspired in part by her family's experience with Alzheimer's and her desire to make complex science accessible through storytelling, Handler has created a novel that is both emotionally resonant and intellectually engaging.

Readers who enjoy fiction that combines cutting-edge science with family loyalty, moral suspense, romance, and ethical tension will find KRISPR to be a timely and memorable read.
