Program Structure and Availability

Elysian Institute's HBOT program runs Monday through Friday using a hard-shelled, two-person chamber capable of reaching pressures up to 2.0 ATA, roughly equivalent to being submerged 33 feet underwater. Sessions typically run 60 to 120 minutes, including compression and decompression time, with length set according to individual protocols established by clinical staff.

The chamber's two-person capacity allows clients to bring a partner or support person along for a session, an option some clients have requested since the program's introduction.

Every client completes a medical intake with a nurse practitioner before treatment, consistent with clinic policy for medical therapies, and a registered nurse remains present throughout each session to monitor client response in real time. The intake requirement applies specifically to medical therapies such as this one, rather than to every service offered at the recovery wellness center.

What the Therapy Does and Doesn't Address

According to an FDA consumer update, the FDA has cleared thirteen uses of a hyperbaric chamber for HBOT, including air or gas embolism, carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, and thermal burns, when delivered in medical-grade chambers. Those medically recognized indications are typically delivered at pressures beyond what Elysian Institute's system is designed to reach.

Elysian Institute does not treat or offer any FDA-approved indication, including wound care, through its HBOT program. The therapy is positioned instead within a broader recovery and wellness context, for clients pursuing general recovery, energy, or wellness goals outside of a specific medical diagnosis.
