Detroit, MI September 14, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Marko Law secured three consecutive jury verdicts arising from a test-track crash involving two children and Continental Automotive Systems, Inc.

On July 27, 2026, the first damages trial resulted in an $896,467,970 jury verdict for a child who sustained permanent injuries in the crash. The verdict is believed to be the largest single-plaintiff verdict in Michigan history.

On August 4, 2026, a second jury returned a $2,066,000 verdict on the related bystander claim brought by the child's father, Vincent Gibson. The verdict is believed to be the largest bystander claim verdict in Michigan history. A bystander claim allows a person who witnesses a close family member suffer a sudden, severe injury to seek damages for the emotional distress caused by witnessing the event.

The third trial involved the other child injured in the same incident. The case is publicly captioned Walker v. Continental Automotive Systems Inc., Case No. 2024-209675-NO, in Oakland County Circuit Court.

Lead attorney Jon Marko presented closing arguments on September 9, 2026. The case was then submitted to the jury. On September 11, 2026, the jury returned an approximately $32.7 million verdict.

Statement from Jon Marko

"Three separate juries have spoken and held Continental accountable for the harm caused to these children. For three years, Continental delayed, denied, and defended these claims before ultimately admitting liability for the underlying test site crash. Continental destroyed these families' lives, and we are happy to help them get justice today."

About the Litigation

The cases arose from a crash at a racing test track during a student field trip. A prototype vehicle lost control and struck bystanders near the track. Continental ultimately admitted liability for the underlying test site crash, and the trials involving the children addressed damages arising from the incident. The related bystander trial addressed the father's claim for emotional distress arising from witnessing the incident.
