ParttoGo Introduces Legacy Parts Rescue to Help Factories Find Discontinued Automation Parts

Sourcing initiative helps maintenance and purchasing teams check availability, condition, price and lead time before considering equipment changes.
SHENZHEN, China, Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ParttoGo is introducing Legacy Parts Rescue, a sourcing initiative for manufacturers searching for discontinued PLCs, HMIs, legacy drives and servo components. Buyers can submit the exact part number and purchasing requirements for help finding supply options.
The stakes extend beyond the price of a replacement. Siemens' The True Cost of Downtime 2024 estimates that unplanned downtime costs the world's 500 biggest companies approximately $1.4 trillion annually, equivalent to 11% of their revenues.
In a Siemens-published commentary, Jim Davison of UK manufacturing association Make UK explained the economic pressure: "Goods cost more, so the value of those not made during downtime is greater."
ParttoGo's response starts with a practical question: before modifying the equipment, can the missing component still be found?
When a repair becomes a sourcing problem
Consider an older packaging line whose HMI screen goes black and will not restart. Operators can no longer use it to set production parameters. The maintenance team needs a replacement, but its usual purchasing channel can no longer supply that model.
A newer HMI may require checks of mounting dimensions, communication connections and the existing program. The buyer must decide whether to keep searching for the original model or invest in adapting the equipment.
ParttoGo starts with the complete model number and label photographs, then helps investigate same-model supply options and check quantity, condition, price and expected lead time. Buyers can specify whether used or refurbished units are acceptable.
The aim is to answer four questions: is the model available, in what condition, at what price, and when can it be delivered? If it cannot be found, the discussion moves to alternatives and the installation and technical requirements that need checking.
Find the part before changing the equipment
"Customers need more than another message saying the model is discontinued," said Jeremy Yuan, MKT Lead at ParttoGo. "They need to know whether a supply option exists, what condition the product is in, and when it can arrive. We help them get those answers so they can decide whether to repair or prepare for a change."
Legacy Parts Rescue focuses sourcing follow-up on hard-to-find components, reducing the need for buyers to contact suppliers individually and repeatedly explain the same requirements.
ParttoGo accepts individual part requests and bill-of-materials inquiries across multiple brands. Buyers can browse its industrial automation parts catalog and submit sourcing requirements.
